McDonald's Chicken Big Mac is the comic con of burgers, as we learned at NYCC 2024
Two... NON-beef patties, lettuce, cheese, special sauce, pickles on a sesame seed bun? NYCC attendees got a chance to discover the new Big Mac for themselves, for free

There’s a line we use here at Popverse when talking about conventions: they are, we say to each other, the crossroads where all different parts of pop culture intersect. You want to see the crossover between comic books, anime, mainstream movies and that weird meme that you’re not sure anyone else really got? Head for the closest comic convention and you’ll find it within minutes. As we recover from New York Comic Con a couple weeks ago — North America’s biggest comic convention — we’re left thinking not just about the intersection of pop culture, but the fact that attendees also got a chance to check out free samples of the culinary version of that idea in person: the McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac.
For those unfamiliar with the Chicken Big Mac, McDonald’s describes it as “a twist on the classic [and] definitely not not a Big Mac.” It’s exactly what it sounds like: the classic Big Mac sandwich, but with two chicken patties replacing the regular beef patties. If you’re anything like me — which is to say, a fan of both classic Big Macs and also a fan of chicken patties — that likely sounds like a fast food dream, but fans at NYCC 2024 didn’t have to take my word for it: McDonald’s showed up with a truck full of free Chicken Big Macs each day of the show to let everyone take a bite for themselves.
There was also a set-up for fans to take selfies against a Chicken Big Mac backdrop, because, why not?
Unsurprisingly, the McDonald’s truck was busy throughout the entire four days of the event, handing out an unthinkable number of Chicken Big Macs throughout the show to feed the masses, and introduce them to the latest addition to the iconic McD’s menu. At one point during the show, the trick even had Hudson Yang - who appeared in the Chicken Big Mac commercial, alongside Randall Park - even showed up to help serve food to the crowd, as well as visiting NYCC for the first time ever. (He had a blast, we're told.)
Judging by the constant mob surrounding the bus for the show, it would suggest that people like the new sandwich (and also a free lunch). Eating one in the middle of the biggest comic convention in North America, we quickly realized that the Chicken Big Mac is the Comic Con of burgers: Two things you love - the Big Mac and Chicken - interacting in a surprising and scrumptious way.
A limited time offering, the Chicken Big Mac is available only for a couple more days.
