Don't miss New York Comic Con 2024, happening October 17 through 20. Popverse is here all four days, immersing ourselves in the pop culture party full of vendors, events, and celebrities from the worlds of comics, movies, TV, gaming, and more.

Fear is a feeling that sends some people running, but not Josh Brolin. He’s built different. The Dune actor revealed the role that fear has played in the course of his career at a spotlight panel at New York Comic Con 2024. The actor has entered a new era in his career in the wake of his smash success as the villain Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now that his films Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame have gone on to be some of the highest grossing films of all time, the actor is not here to rest on his laurels.

Brolin talked extensively in the panel about the positive relationship that he has with fear in his career. He spoke highly of his experience working with writer-director Rian Johnson on Knives Out 3, where he played a role that made him “scared.”

“Look I had a really good time, I loved playing Thanos, I loved being with the Russos…,” Brolin said. “I loved that whole time, but I just said to my agent, ‘I need to be scared.’” And then Brolin was offered his role in the third Knives Out film, which was exactly the type of role he had been looking for.

The Knives Out films, led by Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, have brought together ensemble casts with esteemed actors like Edward Norton, LaKeith Stanfield, Toni Collette, Janelle Monae, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ana de Armas, and more. Brolin is exactly in the acting caliber for a Knives Out film, and we can’t wait to see the fruits of his labor in Rian Johnson’s next film.
