Doctor Doom takes over Marvel's entire comic book universe in 2025

Ahead of his MCU debut, Victor Von Doom is headed for his biggest comic book storyline yet, starting in February 2025

If the future of the Marvel comic book universe could be summed up in one word, that word is Doom.

Announced at New York Comic Con 2024 during the Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing panel on Thursday, Fantastic Four writer Ryan North is teaming up with writer R.B Silva for a five-issue miniseries that sees Victor Von Doom set himself up as the ruler of the world… and, strangely enough, everyone seems to think it’s a perfectly good idea. Is this a trick, or the start of a new status quo for the Marvel Universe? A clue might be in the title of the series, which will be called The Rise of Emperor Doom.

The set-up of the series is simple: six months after the events of Blood Hunt, where Doom declared himself as the Sorcerer Supreme, the ruler of Latveria has seemingly disappeared… until he suddenly reappears one day as the man in charge of… well, everything. The only people who think something is up are the superheroes of the MU, but what if they’re the ones who have things wrong?

The Rise of Emperor Doom will run five issues, with North and Silva as the core creative team; Ben Harvey provides cover artwork for the first issue, which will be released February 2025.

Other projects announced during the Next Big Thing panel included a new Ultimate Wolverine series from Chris Condon and Alessandro Cappuccio, a Power Man: Timeless five-issue series spinning out from the 2023 Timeless one-shot by Collin Kelly, Jackson Lansing, and Bernard Chang, and an ongoing digital series titled Astonishing Spider-Man Infinity Comic from Comedy Bang Bang’s Scott Aukerman and Salva Espin launching in January 2025.

More Marvel news will follow throughout the entire New York Comic Con 2024 weekend. Keep your eyes on Popverse for the latest as it breaks.
