Spawn creator Todd McFarlane gets real about comics and the comics business in rare AMA with comic shop owners at NYCC 2024

We gave Spawn creator Todd McFarlane a live mic and a stage in front of the largest accumulation of comic store owners in some time. And in typical Todd fashion, he let loose.

Todd McFarlane doesn't mince words. It's what made him who he is, as an artist, a writer, a director, a businessman, and as the co-founder of Image Comics. At the end of the day, he says it's all about betting on himself, and at New York Comic Con 2024 earlier this year, he opened the floor - and his door - to talk with retailers in an honest, unvarnished way - with no barriers.

At the inaugural NYCC Retailer Day (AKA Day Zero as we've come to call it internally), we gave Spawn creator Todd McFarlane a live mic and a stage in front of the largest accumulation of comic store owners in some time. And in typical Todd fashion, he let loose - to the point of leaving the stage and going into the crowd within minutes to talk not just at those there, but with.
