It's time to begin your Olympic workout - stretch yourself out on the couch to watch the bi-annual athletically-inclined patriotic spectactle that is the Olympic Games. The 2024 Summer Olympics is emanating from Paris, France (and 16 other cities in addition - including Tahiti!), bringing over 10,000 athletics from 209 countries to determine who is the best in the world in 329 events across 32 sports.

Classic Olympic sports such as Gymnastics, Track, and Swimming will be there, along with the return of more modern sports such as skateboarding and sports climbing, as well as the Olympic debut of breaking (otherwise known as breakdancing; yes, that's actually in the Olympic Games now, wonderfully).

The event begins Friday, July 26 with the pomp and circumstance of the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, followed by 16 days of sporting events to hand out the Gold, the Silver, and the Bronze medals for the best the world.

What are the new sports in the 2024 Paris Olympics?

At the 2024 summer Olympics, there is a new sport for Olympiads: breaking. Breaking (also known as breakdancing), is an athletic form of dancing which originated in the Bronx neighborhood of New York City in '70s and became a phenomenon in the '80s as it was embraced by pop culture.
The Olympics committee first began considering breaking in 2018 when it was included in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games to widespread acclaim, and it's now being formally inducted into the main Olympics.

The newly Olympic sport of breaking will be judged in five categories over a 60-second routine: technique, vocabulary, execution, usicality, and originality. Much like the diving and acrobatics categories, the winners of the breaking category will be determined by the high scores from a panel of judges.
