Marvel & Spider-Man swing into PAX West 2025 to bring a little bit of NYC to Magic: The Gathering (including a Daily Bugle!)
There's a lot of exclusive Spider-Man for Magic: The Gathering fans to pick up at PAX West 2025

If, like J. Jonah Jameson, you want pictures of Spider-Man, there’s one place to go this weekend: the Seattle Convention Center, where PAX West 2025 has a Magic: The Gathering booth that’s not just offering pictures of Marvel’s fan-favorite wall-crawler, but exclusive merch spotlighting the current Magic X Spider-Man set… including a copy of the Daily Bugle that isn’t quite what it seems.
Visitors to the PAX West booth (#2139 if you’re headed to the show!) won’t just be able to pick up one of five PAX-exclusive Welcome Decks — with covers showing Peter Parker’s Spider-Man, Miles Morales’ Spider-Man, Venom, Spider-Gwen, and Spider-Man 2099 — but Saturday’s visitors will also be able to grab an exclusive Magic: The Gathering variant edition of The Amazing Spider-Man #1. That’s the first issue of the most recent volume, not the 1963 very first Amazing Spider-Man #1 ever, I want to clarify — it’s a great entry point for any Magic players wanting to catch up with what’s currently going on with Spidey before he splits into two characters and heads into space.

While they’re at the booth, they should check out the Daily Bugle boxes, which are filled with free copies of the Marvel Universe’s favorite newspaper… albeit in a format that would drive J. Jonah Jameson mad: instead of being filled with hard news and anti-Spider-Man screeds, the giveaway Daily Bugles are actually disguised playmats for the Magic X Spider-Man cards. (It’s actually two games in one, if you factor in the crossword on the back page; I’ll tell you right now that 9 across is ‘Queens.’)

In case that’s not enough reason to hit up the Magic booth at the show, what if I tell you that the space is filled with a recreation of a NYC space for gamers to play the game, complete with Spider-Man-themed graffiti and displays of card art? Or that the flip side of the space is actually a place with laptops for those who prefer to play Magic digitally, themed around Edge of Eternities? It’s enough to make your Spider-Sense tingle.

PAX West 2025 runs at the Seattle Convention Center through September 1.
