Star Trek: Lower Deck's Noël Wells imagines Tendi's life, post-series: "She would become a Trad Wife"

In a hilarious Star Trek: Lower Deck panel at NYCC 2024, cast members imagine their futures

During the Star Trek Universe panel at New York Comic Con 2024, the cast of Star Trek: Lower Decks were asked what they would have liked to happen with their characters had they gotten more seasons. After the group were reassured by creator Mike McMahon that it was okay to for them to have their own ideas—“I know what was going to happen with all of them, so I’m also curious”—Jack Quaid (Boimler) said he wanted more time with Boimler’s family: “I want to dig more into what life on the raisin vineyard is like.”

Tawny Newsome (Mariner) revealed she had been asking Mike since season 1 to add a “stressful sibling that we don’t know about that just shows up…and she’s even more chaotic than Mariner. Mike said that was a bad idea.” McMahon noted, “When In Star Trek have we ever met a new sibling? It could never happen.”

But by far the wildest idea came from Noël Wells (Tendi), who noted “I feel like Tendi’s on the fast track to leadership, but what if she got in a toxic relationship with a man who doesn’t believe in her and then she becomes a trad wife?” As the crowd roared, Wells offered, “I think she’d be a great domestic.”

“Does a trad wife in the 24th century instead of using the replicator just cook regular?” Newsome asked, apologizing that “I have to get this joke out.” “Yes, she does it all.” Wells agreed.

And for his part, Eugeno Cordero (Rutherford) would like to see Rutherford have even more children. “I’m ready to see more babies that he makes. So far he’s a father to all these Badgies, he’s got a cave baby. What else?” Newsome responded, “I’d like to see Rutherford get a vasectomy, frankly.”

Some wondered whether Mariner might end up as a captain. “It seems like too much paperwork,” Newsome said. “You have to file reports and stuff when you’re a captain.” When McMahon suggested she could helm Deep Space Nine’s Defiant, Newsome wondered what had happened to Worf. “We’re playing imagination!” McMahon insisted, to which Newsome fired back, “What Stardate is it, Mike?! You give me a Stardate and I’ll tell you where she is!”

“I love a panel where we start talking Stardates,” McMahon said.

Star Trek: Lower Decks returns to Paramount+ October 24.
