When Disney cancelled The Acolyte after just one season, it left the fandom that had built up around the series in the lurch. What happens to Osha and Mae? Who exactly was the Stranger? What was the deal with the spooky monster guy hiding in his cave? And what the heck happened to Vernestra Rwoh between the novels and the series to make her so darn cranky?

At New York Comic Con 2024, Lucasfilm officially announced that it would be continuing to explore the world of The Acolyte, with two new novels written by veteran High Republic writers Justina Ireland and Tessa Gratton, both of which are prequels to the series. The first, Wayseeker from Ireland, focuses on Vernestra Rwoh, who reluctantly returns to Coruscant after ten years as a Wayseeker to help Jedi Master Indara with an investigation.

Even more thrilling to the gathered audience was the announcement of a Yord and Jecki-helmed YA novel from Gratton called The Crystal Crown. No further information was given, but it has Yord and Jecki, so what more do you really need to know?

None on the panel mentioned whether these books could lead to other post-series novels about Osha, Mae, and the Stranger(s), or even finally a second season of the show. But in the universe of Star Wars, anything is possible!
