Could a Hazbin Hotel movie be coming? NYCC’s Hazbin Hotel showrunner says anything is possible.

At New York Comic Con, Hazbin Hotel showrunner Vivienne Medrano dropped some details about a possible Hazbin Hotel movie.

During the Q&A at New York Comic Con 2024’s Hazbin Hotel panel, showrunner Vivienne Medrano was asked whether she’d be open to doing a Hazbin Hotel theatrical release sometime in the future. “Oh yeah,” Medrano said. “I don’t know what the future holds, but personally I would love to do a feature in this universe. Absolutely.”

Given the ever-expanding scope of Hazbin—with Sir Pentious now in Heaven, season two would seem to be adding that realm to its narrative; and we’ve really only just begun to explore the realm of Hell—the idea of some kind of movie eventually makes a lot of sense.

Medrano has already produced a second story set in that universe, Helluva Boss, which follows an assassination business in Hell. The series, which airs on Medrano’s YouTube Channel in 2020, has had two seasons so far as well as a set of shorts, and features amongst others the voice work of Hotel’s Alex Brightman (Adam, Sir Pentious). Brightman actually got hired on Boss first, he told fans at the panel, while he was still on Broadway playing Beetlejuice. “Can you do that exact kind of voice on our show?” he says they asked. “I’m already doing it at home for nobody, so sure.”

So could there eventually be a sort of culminating Mandalorian-type movie, bringing together all of the amazing characters of Hazbin and Boss for a final confrontation? Or perhaps a Steven Universe-type standalone feature that explores some aspect of Medrano’s universe? After producing such wonderful original songs in every episode, can we get a straight up musical?

Said Nifty voice actress Kimiko Glenn, “Let’s start a petition.”
