Hazbin Hotel's Alex Brightman is getting ready to clean up with his own animated project

The Hazbin/Dead End: Paranormal Park voice actor shared details of his own animated series at MCM x EGX 2024

Alex Brightman is no stranger to fans of animated weirdness, being a veteran of both Netflix’s Dead End: Paranormal Park and Prime Video’s Hazbin Hotel — but, as he revealed on stage at MCM x EGX 2024, he’s planning on getting into the creating animated shows business as well, with a new project already in the works.

“I have a bunch of things going on, but the cool thing is, I sold a cartoon to Warner Bros. that I’m going to be developing it right now; I’m developing it this moment.” Brightman told Popverse’s very own Veronica Valencia, who was moderating the Hazbin Hotel panel. “Viv [Medrano, Hazbin Hotel creator and showrunner] and everyone’s been very helpful, because it is really not my realm — the writing of it — but I got really lucky and grateful and was able to pitch a really cool idea… and other people seem to [agree], so I have a cartoon that I’m currently developing and pitching next month.”

The show, he revealed, is currently called Cleaners, and it’s “about biohazard trauma cleaners in pre-Y2K Boston. It’s very funny, very vulgar… kind of lives in between a Bob’s Burgers/Family Guy situation, but it’s my sort of thoughts and voice on the pre-Y2k times of one of the most crazy cities I’ve ever lived in.”

The development process seems to be fairly in depth, judging by Brightman’s comments. “We have a studio and everything behind it,” he continued. “We have an animator, we have a showrunner and all that kind of stuff. So it’s just about what network wants to pick it up.”

Hey, networks looking for a new show for 2025 or beyond? We have a suggestion if you’re open to it…

MCM x EGX 2024 continues through October 27 at the London ExCel. We’ll be reporting from the show all weekend.
