It's not easy being a one-person manga virtuoso like Yana Toboso, the talent behind the long-running manga series, Black Butler. A fair amount of thought and planning is required in order to write, draw, and spearhead a story that's been nearly 20 years in the making. And now, it's finally all engines go again for Toboso.

According to Anime News Network, the April issue of G Fantasy magazine from Square Enix announced that Black Butler will return from hiatus on April 18. Previously, the series went into hiatus in June of 2024 so Toboso could do the necessary "research" for this next arc in the story.

Black Butler's story is set in Victorian England, so it's understandable why Toboso would want to take some time to do research. Given that manga is a visual art form, you want to make sure that you're drawing your locations and other details accurately, even if they're stylized like they are in Black Butler.

In the meantime, a new anime called Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc will be released on April 5 on Crunchyroll.
