Marisa Tomei hopes Aunt May could return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Lady Spider

Is there a place for Marisa Tomei in the Spider-Verse? She hopes so.

May Parker was murdered by the Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home. (Spoilers? The movie did come out in 2021, after all.) However, that doesn’t mean Marisa Tomei’s time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is over. The franchise has had numerous characters return thanks to flashbacks, resurrections, time travel, and multiversal variants. With all that in mind, is there a chance we haven’t seen the last of May Parker.

During a spotlight panel at Fan Expo Philly 2024, Marisa Tomei was asked if she would be willing to reprise her role as May Parker.  “I’m down if they’re down,” Tomei said.

The moderator then brought up Lady Spider, a multiverse variant of May Parker that was introduced during the 2014 Spider-Verse storyline. This version of May is a young woman who used her engineering skills to build her own web-shooter and mechanical arms. She operates as the heroine Lady Spider, and is frequently seen during Spider-Verse crossover events.

This idea intrigued Tomei.  “I didn’t know that. She becomes Lady Spider? I like that idea. You start the campaign. Get it going!”

Is the Spider-Verse big enough for Marisa Tomei as Lady Spider? I sure hope so, because that would be awesome to see onscreen.
