Fantastic Four: First Steps? Superman? Nope - the most anticipated movie release of summer 2025 is probably not what you're thinking
You'd think it would be something of the SUPER or, perhaps, FANTASTIC variety. But no, summer 2025's most anticipated release has a more WORLDwide appeal

I’ll let you in on a little “behind the scenes” action here at Popverse - though it’s still months away, we’re actively preparing for July 2025 in movies. That’s because both DC Studios’ Superman and Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four: First Steps, two movies that aim to revitalize superhero movies by using the respective brands’ most iconic characters, are coming out a week apart from each other. But after a recent report, we’re scratching our heads - it looks like neither movie is America’s most anticipated of 2025.
No, that honor belongs to Jurassic World Rebirth.
This is according to a Fandango study published March 25, 2025. Having interviewed over 5,000 participants, ranging from loyal to casual moviegoers, Fandango found that the Scarlett Johansson starring return to the Jurassic World franchise tops people’s list of the most anticipated. Fantastic Four comes close at #2, and James Gunn’s Superman finds itself punching up at #4.
Since we know you’re curious, here’s the list in descending order:
- Jurassic World Rebirth
- The Fantastic Four: First Steps
- Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning
- Superman
- Thunderbolts*
- From The World of John Wick: Ballerina
- 28 Years Laters
- How to Train Your Dragon
- Lilo & Stitch
- Freakier Friday
Proud as I am of zombie flick 28 Years Later scoring that #7 spot (and maybe even more proud of Freakier Friday for making it on at all? The Lohanaissance lives, folks), I’ll admit this is not how I was expecting to to see this list shake out. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled for a newer, grosser batch of dinosaurs, it’s boggling my mind a bit that Internet boyfriend Pedro Pascal’s entry into the MCU didn’t snag #1.
No offense to new Man of Steel David Corenswet; it’s just that he didn’t flirt with Meryl Streep at the SNL 50th.
Superman flies into theaters July 11, followed by Fantastic Four July 25. Jurassic World Rebirth (the one that matters, apparently) comes out July 2.
