Chris Hemsworth & Mark Ruffalo might be reuniting for a crime heist movie, but not at Marvel Studios

Don't call it a comeback - or even a Marvel Two-in-One - but MCU alums and Thor: Ragnarok double-bill Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Mark Ruffalo (the Hulk) could be reuniting for a new project. But no, it's not the latest from Marvel - it's from crime novelist Don Winslow.

As Deadline's Justin Kroll reports, both actors are in talks to star in an Amazon MGM Studios movie adaptation of the 2021 Winslow crime novella Crime 101.

"A string of high-level jewel heists up and down the Pacific Coast Highway has gone unsolved for years, mostly because the perpetrator has lived by a strict code he calls 'Crime 101,'" reads the novella description from HarperCollins Publishers. "Police attribute the thefts to the Colombian cartels. But Detective Lou Lubesnick’s gut says it’s the work of just one man. Now the lone-wolf jewel thief is looking for that fabled final last score, and Lou breaks all the rules of 'Crime 101.'"

According to Deadline, Hemsworth is discussing not only appearing in it, but also producing it. The film is targeting a 2025 theatrical release - so this will not something debuting on Amazon's streaming services. (Then again, that might have been obvious from the fact that it would star Ruffalo and Hemsworth.)

Amazon has already hired Bart Layton (American Animals) to write and direct the project, with some scripting assistance from Peter Straughan.

According to reports, Ruffalo would be stepping into a role originally pencilled in for Pedro Pascal, who dropped out of the project... ironically, possibly so he could star in Fantastic Four, produced by Marvel Studios.
