Andrew Garfield is already squashing rumors that he will return to the MCU in Spider-Man 4 (just like he did for Spider-Man: No Way Home)
We feel like we've heard this before.

Now that Spider-Man 4 has a director, we’re all wondering exactly who is going to be in the movie. Tom Holland is back, but, after the cameo-fest that Spider-Man: No Way Home was, will we be getting any other big names in the sequel? At least one Spider-Man has ruled himself out, with Andrew Garfield quickly squashing rumors that his version of Peter Parker will be returning to the MCU for Spider-Man 4.
While promoting his latest film, We Live in Time at the Toronto International Film Festival, Garfield was inevitably asked about his future in the red and blue tights, because we can’t help but ask the man questions he isn’t going to be able to answer. He was pretty blunt in his response, though. “I mean, like the internet is a big place. I think there’s a lot of people who will just say anything to get clicks. So you might have been duped, I’m afraid.”
Of course, this is pretty in line with what Andrew Garfield said about his involvement with Spider-Man: No Way Home. The actor said over and over that he wasn’t in the movie and had no plans to return to the role of Spider-Man again, only to be a significant part of the film in the end, so his denial could simply be him complying with the NDA he invariably signed with Marvel Studios. However, we’re inclined to believe him this time.
We suspect Marvel will do a big multiversal story again and bring in Garfield’s Spider-Man in the future, but it doesn’t feel right to do it again so soon. If we do see him in the MCU again, we suspect it will be a smaller role in something like an Avengers film. Just don’t expect him to tell us about it beforehand.
