It’s been 14 years since Attack the Block hit theaters. While the science fiction horror comedy underperformed at the box office, it received rave reviews from critics, the public, and all of us here at Popverse. After years of talk, it looks like a sequel is finally coming together.
“I actually last week read the latest draft that [writer/director] Joe Cornish has been writing up, and it’s cool," says Attack the Block star John Boyega during his Popverse-hosted spotlight panel this weekend at Emerald City Comic Con 2025. "Moses is back. The team is back. I’m really excited to go back to that. Really excited.”
Boyega didn’t specify how much of the team would be back, but I hope it means we’ll be seeing Jodie Whittaker again. In the time between films, Boyega has filmed an entire Star Wars trilogy, and Whittaker has had a stint as Doctor Who. The first movie may have flown under the radar, but now that the star power of the cast has risen, the sequel should have a lot more eyeballs on it.
