Avengers: Doomsday ruled the internet for one day with only some chairs and an RDJ cameo; imagine what the actual movie will do

Just how big was Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday casting livestream from Wednesday? Big enough that we should probably expect other studios to try their hand at something similar in the future.
According to Deadline, the five-and-a-half-hour livestream clocked around 275,000,000 views during its runtime, becoming the most-viewed cross-platform livestream event to date. (It was streamed on X, formerly known as Twitter, in addition to the YouTube stream.)
Perhaps more importantly for Marvel’s purposes, the stream also generated five times the record for social conversations and mentions for a movie trailer — a record, by the way, also held by Marvel; Deadpool & Wolverine’s Super Bowl trailer in 2024 currently holds the title — with 3.1 million social mentions. Additionally, the stream prompted no less than 55 different trending terms on X, with #AvengersDoomsday the top trending term on the platform for more than 7 hours.
Given that Marvel is already teasing more casting news for the film, it’s enough to wonder if we should be setting aside another few hours for a bit of chair-watching anytime soon… while also wondering what other studios will be looking to replicate this kind of move in the near future for their own purposes. After all, if “just” a cast list can bring the internet to a halt, what other possibilities are out there for movie livestreams in the future?
