I don’t know about you, but since the pandemic, I’ve felt like I’ve lived dozens of lives. And it seems like Netflix’s upcoming action thriller, aptly named Back in Action, is tapping into this facet of life in the wake of COVID. Back in Action is led by Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz as a married couple who have left their espionage days behind in favor of living a comfortable suburban life and raising a family. But as luck would have it, their past lives force them back into the mix for one final mission.

Back in Action is set to release on Netflix on January 17, 2025. It marks Cameron Diaz’s first role in a decade,  giving another layer of meaning to the title of the film. In case you need a refresher, Diaz was in the Charlie’s Angels reboot films in the early 2000s, making Back in Action not her first foray into the genre. Netflix has released a teaser trailer for the film, which you can watch below.

It’s pretty satisfying to see Diaz smack the living daylights out of goons “like Jason Bourne.” However it remains to be seen if she does anything on par with Jason Bourne knocking out a man with a single punch. If Matt Damon can do that in a movie, then why can’t Cameron Diaz? Netflix, I hope you’re listening.

Anyways, Diaz and Foxx are joined by a stellar supporting cast, including Mckenna Grace, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, and Hal Jordan himself, Kyle Chandler. The film is directed by Seth Gordon, who made Horrible Bosses and Baywatch.

Back in Action will release on Netflix on January 17, 2025.
