For a generation of kids, the original Beetlejuice film was one of their first forays into horror and the supernatural. Now, will the sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, provide the same experience for today’s kids? Let’s take a look.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is rated PG-13, which is a step up from the original film’s PG rating. That said, a PG rating in 1988 when Beetlejuice originally came out meant something different than it does today. For reference, 1982’s Poltergeist movie was rated PG. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’s PG-13 rating is earned by its “violent content, macabre and bloody images, strong language, some suggestive material and brief drug use.”
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’s rating is hardly out of the ordinary for kid-friendly horror movies these days. For instance, the Five Nights at Freddy’s film was also rated PG-13, and both the game and the film are a sensation among kiddos today. In the age of Skibidi Toilet, it seems like today’s kids aren’t so fazed by the macabre.
