Black Panther 3 director confirms the Marvel movie coming soon - and that Denzel Washington is still coming to the MCU

"Living legend" Denzel Washington will make his MCU debut in Black Panther 3, which still doesn't have a release date from Marvel

Even though Marvel has yet to officially confirm that Black Panther 3 is in the works, it has become the most open secret in Hollywood since Denzel Washington casually mentioned last year that it was happening and, oh yeah, director Ryan Coogler was writing a part for him in it. We’ve not heard much about the MCU project since that inadvertent news drop, but Coogler has confirmed that, when the movie does happen, he’s going to get Denzel Washington in Black Panther 3.

On a recent episode of the Nightcap podcast with NFL stars Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson, Ryan Coogler says that he still plans to bring Denzel Washington into the MCU in the next Black Panther movie. “I’ve been dying to work with Denzel,” he said. “I’m hoping we can make that happen. I’ve got every intention of working with him on that movie. As long as he’s interested, man, it’s going to happen.”

Coogler also had some high praise for the Oscar-winning actor, referring to Denzel Washington as a “living legend” and a “great mentor” to many in Hollywood. “He’s all about looking out for us, now.”

Of course, all this talk about Black Panther 3 – and who will and won’t be in it – is somewhat moot without a release date. Although Disney and Marvel haven’t given Black Panther 3 an official release date, Coogler promised that it would be “Not long” until it happens. At the moment, there are only three movies officially on the MCU slate beyond 2025; two Avengers films and Spider-Man 4. (There are, however, reserved dates for as-yet-untitled Marvel movies through the end of 2028.) Where Denzel Washington and Black Panther 3 will fit into that schedule, we will have to wait and see.
