Upcoming movies from Blumhouse: Spend another Five Nights at Freddy's, update to M3GAN 2.0, and encounter the Wolf Man in 2025

Horror producer Blumhouse has host of top-notch upcoming movies in the wings for 2025, 2026, and beyond, Mike Flanagan's Exorcist and one musical (huh?) amongst them

Welcome to the Popcorn Prophet! Here we discuss all the upcoming movies from the world's most exciting studios, gathered in one place to foretell for your moviegoing future. Enjoy!

What began as a modest film studio focusing on lower-budget horror franchises such as The Purge and Paranormal Activity has become one of the most successful indie studios on the market today. We're talking, of course, about Blumhouse, the film studio founded by Jason Blum and Amy Israel all the way back in 2000. Since then, Blumhouse's only trajectory has been upward, and its 25th year in existence is shaping up to be no exception.

Yes, there are couple of really exciting projects on the way for Blunhouse's silver jubilee, with the return of cultural megastar M3GAN on the horizon and a return to their Universal Horror properties with Leigh Whannell's Wolf Man. And to make sure you don't miss a single offering, Popverse has compiled this list of every upcoming Blumhouse production for 2025, 2026, and even (potentially) beyond. Hell, we'll even be covering their work outside the movie theater, which...

Oops, sorry. I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's kick off the list with:

Upcoming Blumhouse movies with release dates

I don't need to tell you that Blumhouse is known for its horror output - I'd much rather have franchises like Halloween prove it to you, considering that they've partnered with the studio. But I will say that the list of upcoming movies from the team certainly continues that lauded trajectory. As mentioned above M3GAN 2.0 is headed to theaters in 2025, and while it's not a sequel per se, Wolf Man does reunite director Leigh Whannell with a well-known Universal Monster, a pairing that first began in 2020's The Invisible Man.

But if you think it stops there, you're dead wrong - Blumhouse is returning to two further frightful franchises within the year - as both The Black Phone (originally based on a short story by horror author Joe Hill) and Five Nights at Freddy's (based on the mobile game franchise of the same name) are returning for sequels. And speaking of widely-awaited follow-ups, Blumhouse will be producing the next installment of The Exorcist Franchise (directed by none other than horror legend Mike Flanagan), set to release early 2026.

Upcoming Blumhouse movies without release dates

You can't expect to know exact dates for absolutely everything coming down Rue de Blumhouse, and so far we've got three films on the docket that currently have no release date. The first, Kiss of Death, will see Blumhouse reuniting with Unseen director Yoko Okumura, and the second, fascinatingly, won't be a horror movie at all.

It'll be Richard Linklater's adaptation of Merrily We Roll Along, Stephen Sondheim's famously critically-panned musical that first debuted in 1981. Interestingly, the musical has been rewritten and restaged several times, and in 2023 was on Broadway in a production starring Jonathan Groff, Daniel Radcliffe, and Lindsay Mendez.

It's as weird to me as anyone else that the first Stephen Sondheim project to be adapted by Blumhouse isn't Sweeney Todd, but what can you do. See the Blumhouse projects without release dates here:

Title Release Date
Kiss of Death TBA
The Lost Bus TBA
Merrily We Roll Along TBA

Upcoming Blumhouse TV shows

And finally, remember when I mentioned that we'd be covering more than just what Bumhouse puts in theaters? Well, we've come to exactly that, and as you might've guessed, we're gonna talk about what the studio is putting on TV.

Probably the most notable show on this list is the upcoming Scarpetta, in which Nicole Kidman will portray the detective of the same name starring in a series of massivley popular Patricia Cornwell mystery novels. But, hey, if that's not your thing, read the full list of small screen Blumhouse endeavors below.

Title Release Date
The Bondsman TBA 2025
Scarpetta TBA 2025
The Rainmaker TBA 2025

That's the list of of upcoming Blumhouse projects as of this writing, and you can bet that when we know of more to share with you (or get a couple of those unannounced release dates tossed our way), we'll be keeping you updated, prepped and ready to continue your Blumhouse journey.

But say you're just starting down the pathway to petrification that is Blumhouse Productions. You may have a couple of questions that others like yourself have wondered in the past. Before we leave you, here are a couple of really quick FAQs in regards to your new favorite horror studio

What is the scariest Blumhouse film?

Ah, jeez. Starting off with the toughies, eh? So let's start this by saying that "scaries" is subjective term, not something you can back up by numbers like "farthest," "heaviest," or "best Beyoncé song" (it's Drunk in Love and if you don't agree you're a science denier).

What we can tell you, though, is that the Insidious movies are often placed on lists of the scariest horror movies ever made (such as this 2024 list from Rotten Tomatoes) and that Blumhouse is currently the guardians of that particular franchise. Hopefuly that works for you.

If not, you're just going to have to watch them all and figure it out for yourself.

What's Blumhouse's biggest movie?

See, that is something we can answer definitively, as we can compare box office numbers to determine the champion. And that champion, since you asked, is currently the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, which as the great folks at Bloody Disgusting reported last year, became the biggest box-office success for the studio in its quarter-century history.

We'll see if Five Nights at Freddy's 2 can top it.

Does Disney own Blumhouse?

Not to end on an anticlimactic note, but, well...

No.
