We just met David Dastmalchian's rescue cat Bubblegum, and we love their adoption story (with help from James Gunn & The Suicide Squad crew)
David Dastmalchian and Bubblegum, talking to Popverse's Ashley V. Robinson for Popversations.

There we were, interviewing one of our favorite actors David Dastmalchian about his acclaimed work when all of the sudden we were interrupted. No, not by a fan - it was a closed set. Instead, it was a cat. David's cat. And thus begat a heart-warming story.
"And my cat wants to chime in," Dastmalchian said during the filming of his Popversations interview. "This is Bubblegum, a rescue from The Suicide Squad sets. She's one of my best friends and I love her so much."
While some might cut this kind of thing out of the interview, we left it in and you can watch the whole interaction right now.
As David has discussed before, Bubblegum was found while he was in Colón, Panama filming The Suicide Squad with writer/director James Gunn. Dastmalchian quickly became attached to Bubblegum (and gave her the full name Abner Bubblegum Polka Dot Cat) and took care of her while on set, with the movie's costume designer Judianna Makovsky even building a cat-version of Dastmalchian's Polka-Dot Man costume for her (which you can see in the above picture).
In the director's commentary for The Suicide Squad, Gunn said that several animals were rescued by the cat and crew while filming in Panama. Dastmalchian says that Gunn and others helped him do the proper procedures to bring Bubblegum back home with him.
"Hi baby, do you want to say hi to everybody?" Dastmalchian continued during the Popversations interview. "She doesn't give a shit. She wants to get scratches."
And yes, she got scratches. You can watch the whole exchange in the Popversations interview.
