Marvel's Anthony Mackie proves he knows a cosplayer's pain as he describes his costume in Captain America: Brave New World as "hot as balls"

The new Captain America in the MCU had some choice words about the limited movement the costume allowed.

Something that every cosplayer has had to cope with is the fact that those superhero suits you see on the big screen are all made to look cool, not to be comfortable. Anthony Mackie has learned that hard truth firsthand while filming Captain America: Brave New World. Turns out Marvel’s latest Star-Spangled suit wasn’t exactly designed for comfort.

During a video feature as part of a recent interview with Esquire, Anthony Mackie how cool the new Captain America suit, which has been redesigned with his Falcon wings in mind, looks, but he soon began to comment on how uncomfortable it was. “The new backpack is dope and the way the chest plate is made with the star and everything is really dope. But it is made of hard plastic so it is just impossible to move around.”

At this point, Mackie lifts his arm to around shoulder height for emphasis. “This is as high as you can move your arm. It binds in the shoulders. Stuff like that,” he explains, which would make throwing a punch strong enough to take down Red Hulk a slight problem. However, the thing that proves that Anthony Mackie truly knows a cosplayer’s pain is his last statement about the new Captain America suit.

“And it’s hot as balls.”

We know cosplayers here at Popverse and every single one has said the same thing about their costumes at one point or another. They look cool, but they are impossible to move in and they’re always hot. At least the new Captain America knows where we’re coming from.
