An up-close look at Captain America: Brave New World's helmets for Cap & Falcon

Protect ya head, say Captain America and Falcon.

Although the MCU Sam Wilson has never needed a helmet in his years as the Falcon, he needs one now as Captain America - and so does his new partner, Joaquin Torres (AKA the new Falcon).

After being first glimpsed in the Captain America: Brave New World trailer, we got an up-close-and-personal view of both helmets - and costumes - in a surprise display here at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2024.The helmets are far from the helmets Chris Evans' Steve Rogers wore as Captain America, and more like the flight helmets Tom Cruise and his Top Gun pals would wear - and if you think about it, for good reason.

As the new Captain America is much more of a flight-based hero, Captain America: Brave New World is very well likely to have some aeronautical acrobatic fights (like a Mission: Impossible movie!), and operating at thousands of feet in the air would need some superhuman lungs - or helmets with breathing gear, as these appear to be.

This also gives the Marvel Studios' special effects team an easier job of doing those CGI fight scenes - if they don't have to CGI a highly-recognizable person's face but rather a mask, it makes the job so much much easier.

Expect more on Cap 4 (and other Marvel Studios projects) in Marvel Studios' Hall H here at SDCC 2024 - which we'll be covering live.

Captain America: Brave New World opens in theaters February 12, 2025.
