James Bond + Barbie = Netflix's Chronicles of Narnia, if Greta Gerwig can convince Daniel Craig to sign on

The former James Bond has been offered a mystery role in the Barbie writer/director's Chronicles of Narnia project at Netflix

Unsurprisingly for a man that used to be the world’s greatest secret agent, Daniel Craig is a man in demand. Having been briefly attached to DC Studios’ Sgt. Rock movie — he’s since dropped out — the former James Bond (and current Benoit Blanc) is now being pursued to join Barbie director Greta Gerwig’s Chronicles of Narnia project at Netflix.

Deadline reports that Craig has received an offer to join the movie in an unknown role, although it stresses that it’s entirely unclear whether or not he’ll accept that offer. Charli XCX is reportedly in talks with Netflix to join the project as the White Witch.

Netflix has held the rights to C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia books since 2018; Gerwig has been attached to the property since 2023, when it was initially reported that she’d be working on two movies in the series. It’s unclear which books she’ll be adapting, or whether she’s creating a new story based in Lewis’ mythology.

The new series will reboot the franchise previously brought to the screen in a trilogy of movies from Disney, Walden Media, and Fox: 2005's The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, 2008's Prince Caspian, and 2010's The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. A fourth movie had been announced as being in pre-production - The Silver Chair - but never made it to the shooting stage.

Filming on the new Netflix project is expected to begin this summer, ahead of a brief theatrical run in the US around Thanksgiving 2026, with the movie being added to Netflix’s streaming offerings around Christmas that year. Whether or not Daniel Craig will be in it, of course, remains to be seen.
