The MCU’s new Falcon suit ditches the American flag colors in Captain America: Brave New World trailer
Joaquín Torres is the MCU's new Falcon, with Sam Wilson now Captain America, and he's not going to settle for hand-me-downs.

Every Captain America needs a Falcon, and Sam Wilson's partnership with Joaquín Torres is a return to form for the MCU's new Captain America. If you remember in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Wilson recalled how he flew with a wingman named Riley during his Air Force service. Now, with Torres suited up as the MCU's new Falcon, Wilson has another buddy at his side.
In a new trailer for Captain America: Brave New World, we get a good look at Torres's new Falcon suit. Wilson's Falcon suit was red, but Torres has made some changes. Notably, Torres's suit bears none of the colors of the American flag. Instead, it's green and helmeted, a choice that immediately recalled Halo's Master Chief in my old brain.
The green is a pointed choice for Falcon, especially considering that this is a Captain America film where Sam Wilson will have to fight a Red Hulk who's also President of the United States. With a Red Hulk running around, somebody's gotta wear the green. And let's also be real: the American flag colors of the Captain America uniform are pretty conspicuous. Wearing a color like green is a great way for Torres to stealthily blend into his surroundings while flying over some trees. Shenandoah National Park isn't too far away from Washington D.C., after all.
Let's hope that Torres's suit in the MCU is the extent to which he embodies the Falcon name. After all, in Marvel Comics, Torres was turned into a falcon-human hybrid with wings, a healing factor, and some objectively scary eyes by an evil scientist named Malus. Actor Danny Ramirez has been immensely charismatic in his portrayal of Torres, and I wouldn't want to see his iteration of this character go through something that awful in live-action. Perhaps Marvel Studios should save the comic-accurate Falcon look for an episode of What If...?
