Final Destination Bloodlines trailer unveils first look at horror legend Tony Todd's final big screen appearance
Known for his work in Candyman, Todd first played William Bludworth in 2000's Final Destination. A quarter century later, the actor revises the role in a posthumous cinematic appearance

Tony Todd looms large over the horror genre. As the titular Candyman, Todd brought hair-raising heartbreak to one of cinema's most lasting modern monsters, but his work extends far beyond that. On March 25, horror fans were reminded of the man's gravitas in the form of his character William Bludworth, who appears in the very first trailer for Final Destination Bloodlines. Before we continue, get a look at that trailer here.
Seeing Todd in this trailer is the definition of bittersweet for lovers of his work. Although we are excited to see Bludworth terrifying (helping?) a new generation of at-risk teens dodging death, we know that this will mark Tony Todd's last big-screen appearance. The actor passed away on November 6, 2024, after completing his scenes for this movie.
Of his many notable appearances in and outside of the horror genre (even outside of film - remember, Todd was the voice of Venom in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 video game), Bludworth was certainly one of the most notable, perhaps just behind the Candyman to fright fans. Todd himself was a great lover of the role, telling Forbes in 2019 how precious he was of the character. In fact, Todd stated back then that he felt so strongly about the character that, if a new Final Destination script didn't offer something interesting, he wouldn't revise his role in it.
"I have no interest in doing something just to do it," Todd said, "If the script is new and challenging and provides new light on characters I have already established, I'd want to be part of that."
Thankfully, the script for Final Destination Bloodlines passed the test, and now we'll get to see William Bludworth on a big screen again. We can be grateful for that, even if it's for the last time.
Final Destinations Bloodlines stalks its way into theaters May 16, 2025.
