Beyond Brat summer: Charli XCX eyed for Greta Gerwig's Narnia adaptation for Netflix

The next phase in Charli XCX's career after Brat summer could be Narnia winter, thanks to Greta Gerwig

Charli XCX has transformed the pop culture landscape of the 2020s with the release of her album, Brat, last summer. The Brat era birthed the phrase "Brat summer" which can be defined any number of ways, but for me, it refers to the feeling of being in public partaking in activities intended to be "fun," but with a sense of melancholy and emptiness that's impossible to escape from. What's infectious about "Brat summer" is that you can celebrate and listen to Charli XCX's catchy tunes while still remaining aware of the emotional conflict at the center of it all. I mean, who among us hasn't been sad at the club at one point or another? I'd argue you don't even physically need to be at the club in order to be "sad at the club" but I digress.

Anyways, Deadline reports that Charli XCX is being eyed for a role in Greta Gerwig's Narnia projects for Netflix. It isn't known at this time which role Charli is being considered for. But personally, I think she should play the White Witch because she has the gravitas for it.

Greta Gerwig, the co-writer and director of the wildly successful Barbie movie, has been tied to Netflix's plans for Narnia adaptations since 2020. Previously, Charli XCX contributed the song "Speed Drive" to the soundtrack for Barbie. If she's cast in this Narnia project, could she create another song for it? We're here for it.
