There have been movies about the Beatles before, but Sony and the Beatles' corporation is partnering together to make a Beatles cinematic universe of biopics. James Bond director Sam Mendes is working on a series of four movies - spotlighting each of the four members - and there's a report out indicating who he wants for each role.

Noted Hollywood rumor columnist Jeff Sneider is reporting that these actors are Mendes' top choices for each role:

  • John Lennon, to be played by actor Harris Dickinson (The Iron Claw, Trust)
  • Paul McCartney, to be played by actor Paul Mescal (Normal People, All of Us Strangers)
  • Ringo Starr, to be played by Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisherin)
  • George Harrison, to be played by Charlie Rowe (Never Let Me Go, Angelyne)

(No word on who would play their legendary manager Brien Epstein, or their original drummer Pete Best.)

It's important to note these are unconfirmed reports at this point, however Sneider has been known to be right more often than not. To be clear though, the report is Mendes is eying these actors for the role - if the studio or the actors will agree to it is another story alltogether.

No release date has been set for any of the Beatles movies.
