Katy O'Brian wants to be Jigglypuff on Pokémon - because its "just drunk karaoke"

At Emerald City Comic Con, Katy O'Brian gave a hilarious reason for why she would want to play the karaoke regent of the Pokémon world

From Star Wars, to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to Mission: Impossible, to Twisters, Katy O'Brian has made a name for herself across several huge Hollywood franchises. Alongside doing killer work in indie movies like A24's Love Lies Bleeding, there's still plenty of room for O'Brian to grow across other major franchises. At Emerald City Comic Con this year, our video producer, Ashley Victoria Robinson, interviewed Katy O'Brian as part of our Popversations interview series. And their conversation sparked some hilarious scenarios we'd love to see onscreen someday.

When asked about what other major franchise she would like to be in, O'Brian said Pokémon.

"Pokémon would be really fun. I would be Jigglypuff, obviously... I want to sing and then people fall asleep and then they get really mad and draw gross stuff on their face... Jigglypuff is just drunk karaoke and you're like, 'Oh boy.'"

O'Brian was quick to elucidate that she wouldn't want to play a human trainer with a Jigglypuff Pokémon. She'd rather just play Jigglypuff herself, which is valid! If you remember all the way back to 2019, when Detective Pikachu came out, Jigglypuff was featured in a scene doing what they do best: singing in a coffeeshop. Their singing put a man to sleep on the seat next to them, giving them definite lounge singer vibes.
