As Avengers: Doomsday starts filming, Marvel boss Kevin Feige reveals what he loves most about Avengers movies (hint: it isn't the box office draw)
With filming set to begin on Avengers: Doomsday, the massive cast of the MCU team-up film gives the studio a chance to have their actors interact in new and surprising ways.

If there is one person who is more excited about Avengers: Doomsday than anyone else, it is Kevin Feige. After numerous missteps in the MCU, the Marvel Studios boss is looking to recapture the magic of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. With filming set to begin on the next big Marvel team-up movie, Feige has shared what he thinks makes the Avengers movies work. It isn’t just putting loads of characters on screen; it is all about letting the Marvel actors play on screen in ways we haven’t seen before.
“Avengers movies are always about incredible actors, who’ve never met before on screen, meeting for the first time and interacting in ways that they’ve never interacted before,” Kevin Feige explained during a press conference. “That’s my favorite part of Avengers movies.”
We would have thought that Kevin Feige’s favorite thing about Avengers movies would be the billion dollars that Avengers: Doomsday is likely to bring in at the global box office – especially with the Russo Brothers, Robert Downey Jr., and enough returning names to fill a six-hour, history-making live stream involved. We’d be lying, of course, if we said that we weren’t excited about how Marvel is going to bring Dr. Doom (and a whole host of X-Men) into the MCU. There is a real sense that Feige and Marvel are betting it all on Avengers: Doomsday to bring them back to their box office dominance.
Avengers: Doomsday is set for a May 6, 2026 release date and will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on 7 May, 2027.
