If Disney wants to do a Star Wars: C-3PO TV series, Anthony Daniels has one stipulation before he'll say 'yes'
Anthony Daniels thinks a C-3PO streaming show would be cool, but only if it’s motion capture

C-3PO has seen a lot of action. The protocol droid is one of the only characters to appear in all nine installments of the nine-film Skywalker Saga. He also holds the distinction of being the first character to ever speak in a Star Wars film. Threepio has also seen appeared in projects like Rogue One, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka, and even Galactic Starcruiser, Disney World’s ill-fated Star Wars hotel.
That’s a lot of screentime for the protocol droid. Could a streaming series be next? After all, Disney+ has a large library of original Star Wars series, such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Skeleton Crew, The Mandalorian, and more.
During an appearance at FanX Salt Lake Pop Culture & Comic Convention, C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels was asked about headlining his own series. Daniels was intrigued, but he had conditions. “Disney has plans for all sorts of places where Threepio doesn’t appear. Certainly, a TV series would be interesting, but only if I was doing it in motion capture. The idea of doing it day after day in that suit, absolute nightmare.”
Daniels went on to note that the suit can be particularly uncomfortable for long periods of time, and motion capture is easier.
This wouldn’t be the first time Daniels headlined a C-3PO show without donning the suit. Daniels voiced the protocol droid in all 14 episodes of the 1985 animated series Droids. If you’re curious, you can catch it on Disney+.
However, that show was 40 years ago. As Disney+ struggles to find success with a Star Wars streaming show, could Threepio be their answer? It couldn’t hurt to try, and Daniels is only a phone call away.
