Seems like everybody's got an evil Superman these days. The Boys have Homelander, Invincible has Omniman, and now, even the gang at Marvel Studios have put their hat in the ring - providing fans a first glimpse at both Sentry and The Void in an all-new Thunderbolts* trailer released during Superbowl LIX. See for yourself by watching it here:
This trailer is filled with some first looks, though you’d be forgiven for missing them on the first watch. Among all the playful banter and 80s-tastic soundtracks – Starship’s Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now, no less – a lot is going on. However, we were excited to see a glimpse at Sentry’s power throwing a couple of hapless heroes out of what used to be Avengers Tower (after a bit of redecorating) and The Void, who can be seen wiping fleeing citizens from existence.
Despite the high stakes of the mission, there is plenty of playful banter and comedic touches throughout. Though Marvel hasn’t come out and said they’re trying to capture the vibe of Guardians of the Galaxy, that certainly feels like where they’re going; a bunch of sorta-kinda heroes getting in over their heads to the soundtrack of an 80s jam.
One big difference between this trailer and previous ones is that the focus feels more on Bucky than Yelana, who was front and center in our previous look at the movie. Even with Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier pulling the emotional weight of the trailer, it is clear that David Harbour is still having the time of his life as Red Guardian and we're glad to see it.
