Since the remarkable success of the first two films in Ti West’s X films, expectations are much higher for MaXXXine, which is due to hit cinemas in July 2024. That success has spurred the producers to add a few fresh faces to the cast, some of which will be immediately familiar to most viewers. The MaXXXine cast promises to add some star power to the slasher franchise.
Set six years after the slaughter at the heart of X, Mia Goth once again plays Maxine Minx, an aspiring actress in pursuit of fame and fortune in Hollywood. This time, it is the 1980s that are the backdrop to the inevitable massacre that is to come and Goth is joined by an entirely new cast of potential victims as her character is pursued by the notorious Night Stalker.
With Goth the only returning actor from X (because Maxine is the only character who survived) there are plenty of new faces to get sliced and diced on the big screen. The MaXXXine cast includes:
- Mia Goth as Maxine Minx
- Elizabeth Debicki as Elizabeth Bender
- Michelle Monaghan as an LAPD Detective
- Bobby Cannavale as an LAPD Detective
- Lily Collins as Molly Bennett
- Giancarlo Esposito
- Kevin Bacon
- Sophie Thatcher
- Halsey
- Moses Sumney
For the first time in the X franchise, it is unlikely that Pearl – the homicidal elderly woman also played by Mia Goth – will be the focus of the carnage. The movie hints at the involvement of the Night Stalker, a real-life serial killer named Richard Ramirez who operated in Los Angeles during the time MaXXXine takes place.
MaXXXine is due out in cinemas on July 5, 2024.
