The Electric State is an Avengers: Endgame reunion film that has nothing to do with Marvel

Don't miss New York Comic Con 2024, happening October 17 through 20. Popverse is here all four days, immersing ourselves in the pop culture party full of vendors, events, and celebrities from the worlds of comics, movies, TV, gaming, and more.

Avengers assemble….at another studio.

The band behind Avengers: Endgame is getting back together. However, this time they won’t be battling Thanos. The Electric State is an upcoming science fiction comedy that depicts a dystopian version of the 1990s where robots had taken over. The film isn’t part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but somehow it has become an Avengers reunion film.

The Electric State is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the team behind classic Marvel films such as Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Speaking at New York City Comic Con’s Electric State spotlight panel, Anthony Russo spoke about the film’s Marvel connections.

“It’s our first time reuniting with our key collaborators from Avengers: Endgame. [Christopher] Markus and [Stephen] McFeely wrote the script. Jeff Ford, who edited all the movies we did with Marvel is the editor on this. Alan Silvestri did the score. This is hopefully as big as it gets for folks. If you’re hungry for a giant ambitious fantasy film, we’ve got one for you.”

Of course, the movie also features some familiar actors from the MCU, such as Chris Pratt and Anthony Mackie. Perhaps this combination of actors and crew members will bode well for the movie. Who knows, maybe The Electric State can recreate the MCU magic.

The Electric State will premiere on Netflix on March 14, 2025.
