In 2017 Will Turner was given his happy ending. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales ends with Will Turner reuniting with his wife and son, after being forced to captain The Flying Dutchman for years due to a curse. This gave the character some much needed closure, seemingly ending his story.
But is anything ever really over? Will might be done with the sea, but that doesn’t mean the sea is done with him.
Earlier this year Jerry Bruckheimer announced that he was developing a Pirates reboot for Disney. The new film would follow new characters, but Bruckheimer said he would like to see Johnny Depp return as Jack Sparrow.
But what about Will Turner? Orlando Bloom hasn’t ruled anything out. Speaking to a crowd at ACE Superhero Comic Con, the Will Turner actor gave his thoughts on a possible new chapter for the former blacksmith. Would he return?
“To that? Yeah,” Bloom answered. “Look, those experiences and those movies were phenomenal. Working with that team was so great. Jerry produced these amazing movies. Never say never. I don’t know what the premise is, I haven’t heard yet. But I think that world was phenomenal. We built a world there that was very unique. I definitely had a lot of fun doing that. If there was something really fun and cool to do, I would do that. I think they’ve got all sorts of ideas that we could see. There’s plenty of ocean out there.”
It sounds like the sea is calling. The question is, will Disney?
