If you had told us a decade ago that one of the most successful and universally loved film series would be Paddington, we’d have laughed at you, but that is the world we live in. With Paddington in Peru on its way to being a huge hit, the studio behind the latest movie has confirmed that they’re keen to bring even more of the adorable bear home to us and to expand into both TV and a stage play.
The comments were somewhat hidden in an interview with the CEO of Studiocanal, but Anna Marsh has confirmed that a fourth Paddington movie is on its way. “There will be a fourth film,” she said. “We’re thinking about the next movies and we’re working on a new TV series as well as a stage show musical with Sonia Friedman and Eliza Lumley.”
The statement specifically uses the plural when talking about future Paddington movies, implying that the studio is keen to keep the marmalade train running. While it isn’t an official announcement that a fourth (or potentially more) Paddington movie has been greenlit, it does suggest we should keep our eyes peeled for the little bear’s next big adventure.
As for the TV series and stage show, we’re still waiting for more details about them, such as a streaming partner or location. It isn’t clear if the TV series is a new season of The Adventures of Paddington, which has aired on Nickelodeon since 2019, or an entirely new show that is in development.
Paddington in Peru is currently out in many territories, with a US release date of February 14, 2025.
