Bringing the MCU's Black Widow back to life would rob her of her "hero moment" says Scarlett Johansson, and fans need to "let it go"

ScarJo feels Natasha's story is pretty well wrapped up and isn't in a hurry to jump back into her Marvel role. Maybe it's time we all just accept her fate and move on.

The death of Black Widow was one of the most surprising moments in the MCU. It was a sign that anything could happen as we crept toward the climactic fight against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. However, that hasn’t stopped people from endlessly speculating that Scarlett Johansson is planning to return as Black Widow in a future Marvel project – but the actress is here to say that isn’t going to happen.

During a lengthy write-up with InStyle magazine, Scarlett Johansson didn’t mince words about the prospects of her returning as Black Widow in the MCU. “Natasha is dead. She is dead. She’s dead. Okay?”

As for why Marvel fans are so desperate for Black Widow’s death to be undone – something comic book fans have become somewhat accustomed to – Johansson thinks there is an element of denial.

“They just don’t want to believe it. They’re like ‘But she could come back!’ Look, I think the balance of the entire universe is held in her hand. We’re going to have to let it go. She saved the world. Let her have her hero moment.”

Like Chris Evans before her, Scarlett Johansson seems to be in no rush to rejoin the MCU, despite all the rumors and speculation that suggest otherwise. As she said, Natasha’s story is nicely wrapped up. Her sacrifice saved half the universe and gave the Avengers a chance to fight back; bringing her back takes away from her story rather than adds to it. Besides, ScarJo has a new franchise to lead up in the meantime.
