Scream 7 not only has Neve Campbell's Sydney Prescott returning, but her half-brother as well (even though he died in Scream 3)

Hello, Sydney's half brother. Scream 7 is not only bring back classic characters, but classic dead ones too.

As we all say in unison, 'I know what you did the last time you were in a Scream movie, Scott Foley.'

That isn't just a play on the Scream spin-off series I Know What You Did Last Summer, it's what we're all actually thinking as news has come out from Deadline that Scott Foley (The Unit, Scandal) has been cast for 2026's Scream 7. The thing is, though, he was in Scream 3 as Sydney Prescott's half brother, and was later revealed to be the Ghostface Killer of the movie that ultimately died at the hands of Dewey.

While we can forgive (and applaud) Neve Campbell returning for Scream 7 in her role as perpetual final girl Sydney, I'm a little stumped on Foley returning. He'd have to be reprising his role, and not as a new character, right...? Picking my brain for what happened in Scream 3, I recall his character Roman Bridger faking his own death at least once, so it's not impossible that he did so again. We last saw Foley's character (a photo, at least) in Scream VI where he was called out again as the Ghostface Killer in 2000. (I feel like Jamie Kennedy's Randy Meeks right now.)

However he fits into this, Foley joins a Scream 7 cast already comprised of the returning Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown, along with a host of Scream newbies including Mckenna Grace and Joel McHale. Series creator (and original writer) Kevin Williamson has been lured back with the director's chair here, and he began filming the movie earlier this month in Atlanta under the working title 'Scar Tissue.'

Scream 7 is set to hit theaters February 27, 2026.

Here's how to watch the Scream movies & TV series in order.
