Star Wars' John Boyega has a great theory of how Samuel L. Jackson's Mace Windu survived - and he's already told the actor's wife
John Boyega thinks Mace Windu survived his duel with Darth Sidious and is running around with a droid arm

Chicago's C2E2 2025 was three days of comics, community, celebrities, and pizza (Pequod's, if you want to know). Read our full recap of the weekend, watch all of the Main Stage panel videos, see all the best cosplay photos, and more. And if you want to do it all again next year, we've got the dates for C2E2 2026, too.
You can’t keep a good Jedi down.
In 2005’s Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Mace Windu and a group of Jedi Masters confronted Darth Sidious. A lightsaber battle followed, with Windu being the last council member standing. As Windu prepared to finish off Sidious, Anakin Skywalker showed up and betrayed him. Skywalker cut Windu’s hand off, and Sidious used his lightning to send Windu out the window, plummeting to his doom.
Or so we thought.
John Boyega, who plays Finn in the Star Wars saga, isn’t buying it.
Speaking to a crowd at the John Boyega: The Force of Talent panel at C2E2 2025, Boyega shared his love for the franchise, and the lively debates that fans have. “We get to debate about our favorite characters. We get to debate about whether Mace Windu is dead or not. We get to have those topics.”
This raised a question – does Boyega think Mace Windu is still alive. “I don’t think Mace Windu is dead. I don’t think he is.”
“One arm,” Boyega continued. “He’s out there. That’s even better. So, he has a droid arm. He’s going to be killing people by the time he come out. Samuel, I already told your wife, I need you back man. I need you back.”
It does raise the question about where Mace was all this time, and why he didn’t help the Rebel Alliance stop the Galactic Empire. Of course, these are all questions Lucasfilm and Samuel L. Jackson can answer if they ever decide to tell that story. And they should. It would do big numbers at the box office and Disney+.
