The six Star Wars movies Lucasfilm says is still in development (in addition to Starfighter), and the six they avoided talking about at Star Wars Celebration 2025
These's aren't the Star Wars movies you're looking for - or are they?

On the first day of Star Wars Celebration 2025, Lucasfilm landed the big news that the rumored-but-never-actually confirmed Shawn Levy Star wars movie is going ahead - with Ryan Gosling signed on to star, a 2027 release date, a name (Star Wars: Starfighter), and with filming set to begin later this year. Of course, that movie flew right by a bevy of previously-announced Star Wars movies from the last Celebration that didn't receive nary a mention this past weekend at Star Wars Celebration... but we did get confirmation some are still happening in a sneaky message from Lucasfilm online.
Buried in the unsigned StarWars.com article announcing Star Wars: Starfighter is a seeming answer to the open question of what Starfighter means for those other previously announced movies, listing six Star Wars films - with one going back to 2020. The six films are:
- An untitled Star Wars movie by director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy & star Daisy Ridley, which fans have dubbed 'New Jedi Order' after the era Lucasfilm called the post-Rise of Skywalker era it is set in.
- The Star Wars: Jedi Prime movie by director James Mangold, which fans have dubbed 'Dawn of the Jedi' after the long ago times that Lucasfilm dubbed with that name back in 2023.
- An untitled Star Wars movie by director Taika Waititi that was announced back in 2020, and has recently hired a new writer named Tony McNamara.
- Star Wars episodes X, XI, and XII by writer Simon Kinberg, which were originally announced in 2024

Those six films are in addition to the recently-filmed The Mandalorian & Grogu movie with a 2026 release date and the aforementioned Starfighter... but what's most interesting to me in this official Star Wars note is how they spent time naming the above projects - then spent time not naming six other previously announced and presumably still active movies in development.
Don't tell me the odds, Kathleen Kennedy... but tell me these are still happening:
- The Lando filming starring (and co-written by) Donald Glover, which was announced in 2020 as a Disney+ series before transitioning into a movie project in 2023.
- An untitled Star Wars movie by writer/director Dave Filoni, set in the New Republic era. This wasn't mentioned by the StarWars.com article, but presumably this is due to it being intended to follow the upcoming Ahsoka season 2 which hasn't even begun filming yet.
- The Star Wars; Rogue Squadron movie by writer/director Patty Jenkins, which was announced in 2020 with a 2022 release date. It was beset with production troubles, but in 2024 Jenkins said she had signed new contract with Lucasfilm to resume work on it.
- The Star Wars trilogy by The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson, which was announced in 2018 but then delayed due to the success of his Knives Out movie series.
Of course this could all change with an announcement anytime now. And I welcome it... but I'm not holding out too much hope.
