Attempted murder: The Crow had a goth party premiere (but not everyone got the memo)
While most of the cast and crew donned all-black clothing for the occasion, producer John Jencks made a different decision.

The upcoming reboot of The Crow had its world premiere at New York’s Village East by Angelika on August 20, 2024, and photos of the glamorous event reveal a theme to the sartorial choices of the cast and crew. Somewhat fittingly, everyone is wearing black! However, it appears as though one attendee either never got the memo, or chose not comply. Instead of donning the goth party uniform, The Crow producer John Jencks appeared in an outfit what was white from head to toe.
But who was wearing all-black at the premiere? Basically, everyone else: in a group shot, cast and crew alike appear in all black outfits. This includes Bill Skarsgard, FKA twigs, Lisa Perkins, William Josef Schneider, Sam Pressman, Tundy Smith, Molly Hassell, Rupert Sanders, Victor Hadida and Josette Simon.
True, Malcolm Gray had on navy blue (still pretty close to crow colored) and Rupert Sanders had a white shirt on under his black jacket. While these more slight palette variations still earned Gray and Sanders spots in the back row of the group photo, they certainly aren’t as visually striking as the all-white ensemble worn by Jencks. Even his sneakers were entirely white, and while you can’t tell from the photo, we have some pretty strong theories regarding his sock color, too. Maybe no one told Jencks that The Crow premiere encouraged a very specific clothing color scheme?
But then again, one core element of the philosophies held by many members of the goth subculture is a staunch commitment to nonconformity. While wearing all black might put you in the minority at many movie premieres, at The Crow premiere, it would simply mean dressing in a similar fashion to nearly everyone else. At the end of the day, maybe wearing all white makes Jencks the most goth of all out of those who attended?
Just one more question to ponder as you wait for your showing of The Crow to begin when it lands in theaters on Friday, August 23, 2024.
