Marvel finally gets that Johnny Storm has always been a great big himbo in the first trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps

The MCU's Human Torch is a bit dumb but incredibly hot (do you see what we did there?).

Each member of the Fantastic Four fits into some sort of archetype. Reed Richards is the patriarch and occasionally distant father. Sue Storm is the mother who keeps the house running while all the men make things worse. Ben Grimm is the lovable oaf who provides muscle when needed. And Johnny Storm? Well, the first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps reveals that the MCU’s Human Torch is 100% Grade-A himbo.

Watching the trailer, we get to see everyone in the Fantastic Four in action. Sue turns invisible. Ben clobbers his way down a crumbling street. Reed is busy with science. All three of them have some dialogue to characterize them and tell us what they’re all about. Meanwhile, Johnny says exactly one word in the first trailer before running around looking pretty and flaming on all over the place. He is there to look pretty and keep his mouth shut.

This is not a bad thing, friends. The thing about Johnny Storm is that he’s always been a bit of an idiot. Well-meaning, sure, but he’s got exactly two brain cells firing at any given moment. The one thing we see him do in the trailer is fly straight up to the point where he seems to leave the atmosphere, causing his flames to go out and send him plummeting back to Earth. If there is any Marvel hero who would forget that they need oxygen to breathe, it is Johnny Storm and we love the boy for it.

Fantastic Four: First Steps lands in cinemas on July 25, 2025 and looks like it will give us the himbo Johnny Storm we’ve always known was there.
