Play, Saxophone Man! The Lost Boys is going to be a Broadway musical

"One thing about living on Broadway I never could stomach: all the damn vampires."

Although the phrase "The Lost Boys are coming to Broadway!" sure sounds like the announcement of a Peter Pan revival, it's actually something way more exciting. (No shade to Peter Pan fans - it's just, how many more times can we clap to save Tinkerbell's life? Get her a doctor.) Yes, 1987 vampire film classic The Lost Boys, directed by Joel Schumacher and starring Kiefer Sutherland, is being adapted into a creepy and possibly campy Broadway musical, set to debut Spring of 2026.

The news comes to us via the good folks at Deadline, who report that the show will debut at the Palace Theater early next year, about one year after a private invitation-only industry presentation takes place on March 14, 2025. They announce that the show will be directed by Michael Arden, whose past credits include the Tony-Award winning Parade revival in 2023, and features a book by Chris Hoch and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia staple David Hornsby.

Yes, Rickety Cricket is pulling a Charlie and writing a musical.

Music for this show won't be written by a Day- or Nightman (although vampires technically fit into the latter category), but by the band The Rescues, that is, artists Kyler England, AG, and Gabriel Mann. Their score will combine re-workings of some of their previous work and new, original numbers.

As of this writing, tickets for the show are currently unavailable as the actual dates of the premiere are still unknown. Don't worry, though, the Popverse gang can stomach vampires, to twist the film's most famous line, and we'll be letting you know as soon as those tickets go on sale.
