If you’ve been waiting for The Adventures of Tintin sequel, we have some great news. Andy Serkis, who played Captain Archibald Haddock and Sir Francis Haddock in the original Tintin film, has given an update on the long-delayed sequel.

During a spotlight panel at ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024, Serkis spoke about his relationship with Phillpa Boyens and Fran Walsh, two producers he’s worked with for decades. While he was singing their praises, he briefly mentioned one of the next films they’ll be collaborating on.

“I think I’ve got a very psychic connection to Phillipa [Boyens] and Fran [Walsh],” Serkis said. “Ever since we’ve first met, we’ve done eight movies now, and this [Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum] will be our ninth. I’m pretty sure there will be a tenth, because I’ve got a feeling there will be another Tintin movie coming along at some point.”

Most of the conversation was focused on the upcoming Lord of the Rings film, but Serkis snuck an update on Tintin in there. The Adventures of Tintin was a CGI animated film released in 2011. Based on the long-running Belgian adventure comic, the film was a commercial and critical success. A sequel was planned, but it’s been in development hell for over a decade.

Serkis seems confident that the project is happening, and from what he’s saying, it sounds like it will go into production sometime after Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum has wrapped. Earlier this year, Serkis said that Peter Jackson would be directing the untitled Tintin sequel. When Peter Jackson, Andy Serkis, Phillipa Boyens, and Fran Walsh get together, epic things happen. For example, have you ever heard of Lord of the Rings?
