Woody, Buzz, and the gang will face their biggest threat yet in Pixar's Toy Story 5: our phones & tablets

It's toys vs. electronics in Toy Story 5.

The toys of Pixar's Toy Story have faced a variety of villains over their franchise history, but in 2026's Toy Story 5, they will face one that none of us know how to defeat: kids being sucked into electronics.

At D23 Expo happening now during Disney's Friday night presentation, it was revealed that Woody, Buzz, and the gang will be battling their family (and especially their young children) being enamored and entranced by iPads, tablets, the mobile phones.... like how you're probably reading this now.

Writer/director Andrew Stanton, who has been a co-creator on the franchise since its beginning, says Toy Story 5 will be about "toys going against electronics," and showing an image of the toys watching on as Bonnie is playing with a tablet under her bedcovers.

In 2019, Tom Hanks said that Toy Story 4 would be the last film in the franchise but since then co-star Tim Allen has said he's returning for Toy Story 5. Hanks hasn't been confirmed for Toy Story 5, but Pixar CCO said Woody will be in the sequel.

Toy Story 5 is set for release June 19, 2026.

Here's how to watch all the Toy Story movies, shorts, and more in order.
