Want to watch Max for free? DoorDash has a pretty killer deal for you

DoorDash customers using the annual DashPass subscription now have free access to the Warner Bros Discovery streaming service

Max, the streaming platform of Warner Bros. Discovery that’s home to everything from HBO to HGTV — as well as exclusive content from Studio Ghibli, A24, and other external partners — is available to subscribers in a variety of options, from ad-free ($169.99 annually) to ad-supported, which costs around $99.99 on an annual basis. But what if… you could get it for free? Somewhat surprisingly, DoorDash customers have that opportunity right now.

As announced via Variety, DoorDash customers in the U.S. with a DashPass annual plan — which costs $96 per year — will be receive free access to Max on the Max with Ads tier as part of a new partnership between the two companies.

According to DoorDash chief marketing officer Kofi Amoo-Gottfried, the deal came from what the delivery company believed was a strong overlap with Max’s target audience. “We felt [Max] had a really strong catalog for both families and adults,” he explained. “And if you really think about the base of who makes up the DashPass audience, we felt the titles and the IP and the things that existed on Max would allow us to speak to that audience in a way that would really resonate. A lot of it is really about understanding who that customer is and what we think is going to appeal to them.”

The deal is the first of its kind for both companies, but other streamers have made similar bundled offers in the past; Walmart and Paramount+ have partnered to build out their subscriber bases, as have Instacart and Peacock.

The DoorDash deal is also here for Max subscribers who’d rather watch things without ads: although it won’t come free, DashPass will offer a discount for the ad-free tier, bringing the monthly price down from $16.99 to $10.99.
