Star Wars vs. Star Trek at Seattle's ECCC 2025 in the pop culture fight club we call Popversus

Star Wars author John Jackson Miller faces off with Star Trek artist Joe Eisma to decide which is better, Star Trek or Star Wars in Popversus: the pop culture fight club.

The Pacific Northwest's premiere comic + pop culture show Emerald City Comic Con returns soon - March 6 through 9 to be exact. Stay tuned to Popverse for all the ECCC 2025 news, our recs for what to do at ECCC 2025, and buy tickets now to find your place at the Seattle staple.

It's the debate heard around the dinner table. It's the face-off fought over in the comic cons. It's Star Wars vs. Star Trek. For nearly 50 years, the fan debate on which sci-fi franchise is better has raged, and on Sunday, March 9 in Seattle, Washington we're going to settle it once and for all. (Well, we'll see).

Sunday, March 9 will be Popversus: Star Wars vs. Star Trek, an hour-long live event where two celebrities face off and debate which side is better, with Popverse's Ashley V. Robinson acting as moderator/host/referee and you, the fans, acting as judge and jury.

In the Star Wars corner, we have prolific author John Jackson Miller, who has penned the definitive Obi-Wan Kenobi book, Star Wars: Kenobi, and the recent Star Wars: The Living Force. He also wrote over 50 issues of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic comic, as well as loads more comics and short stories.

And in the Star Trek corner, we have comic artist Joe Eisma, a well-known Star Trek fan in comic con circles who drew the recent Star Trek: Holo-Ween series. He also drew a portion of the recent 400th issue of the Star Trek comic.

After the inaugural Popversus at New York Comic Con 2024 where Deadpool co-creator Fabian Niceiza and Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim matched wits (and jokes) in a battle of Marvel vs. DC, we return at Emerald City Comic Con to do it again - this time with Star Trek vs. Star Wars.

On Sunday, March 9 at 3:15 PM Pacific Time in Emerald City Comic Con's room 320, these two will face off to help us (and you) determine which is better: Star Trek or Star Wars.
