Finished? OK great, let's talk about Knull.
Though we only get a blink-and-you'll-miss-it glimpse of the villain at about the 1:08 mark of the trailer, Knull's presence has loomed large over Marvel Comics for the past six-ish years. Introduced in the Donny Cates-written, Ryan Stegman-drawn Venom run that began in 2018, Knull is the father of the creatures that would come to be known as the symbiotes. Existing before the birth of our universe in a kind of primordial void, Knull's power rivals the biggest of bads in the Marvel cosmos, including Galactus, Thanos, and more.
It was Knull's introduction into the comics that brought about the long King in Black saga, which temporarily made Venom the main character of the Marvel Universe as it stretched across comic titles company-wide in 2020. The event forever altered the Venom we knew, becoming a staple in the character's history, with consequences that stretch out even to today.
What the character's introduction means for the cinematic Venom, however, is left to be seen. Although we will say this - if Sony's intention with this film truly is to wrap up Venom's storyline, then there's no bigger bang to go out with than a battle with Knull.
Venom: The Last Dance brings Knull to screens across the US October 25.
