There are perhaps no horror films on the upcoming slate of movies that are more exciting for horror fans than Robert Eggers' take on the classic Nosferatu the Vampyre, which debuted over a century ago in 1922, and left fingerprints all over the following hundred years of cinema.

At CinemaCon 2024, Focus Features debuted an early sneak peek of the film. The footage begins with a woman calling to some unseen figure, "Come to me, come to me... hear my call."

What followed was a very stylish, gothic fantasy land with rats and pigeons (and maybe someone about to do something unsettling to said pigeon... which might be in keeping with the subject matter, really), along with some very spooky, and yet still beautiful, imagery. There were burning churches, lots of blood, and bad dreams. It felt poetic, weird, and graphic - just as fans of Robert Eggers' work have come to expect.

The wait for Robert Eggers' Nosferatu has been long, as it has been in development since the release of The Witch in 2015. The film was then pushed back as Eggers first took on The Lighthouse and then The Northman. However, fans wont have to wait too long now, as Nosferatu will debut for a very horrific Christmas at the end of the year.

Nosferatu debuts in theaters December 25, 2024.
